“When Love came down to earth and made His home with men… the hopeless found a hope, the sinner found a friend.”

9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

I’m self-admittedly a stationery addict. I love to collect journals and most of them are just collecting dust in a corner because I still don’t have a use for them. But this post is for the ones I am using currently. I should really do something about my other ones lol.

Bullet Journal – Muji Spiral Bound Blank Notebook

  • I love using this notebook as my bujo. The pages are smooth and are easy to write on. The paper is really thin, so I can’t use copic markers on them, but regular pens and highlighters are great with them. I like the spiral bound because I can rip out pages that have mistakes on them.

Sermon Journal – Leuchtturm1917 Slim Master A4 Notebook Plain / Gold

  • I use this journal to jot down sermons from church. I love to doodle my sermon notes so this blank journal is perfect for doing that. This this is the second Leuchtturm1917 notebook I’ve used for this purpose. The pages are numbered and I can write down which sermon and when it was preached. The only reason I wouldn’t use this journal for my bujo is because I can’t rip them out >.<

Devotions Journal – Rough Draft Mini Notebook

  • This is where I write notes from my Bible reading time. It is a ruled notebook unlike the other two I’ve mentioned. The layout is simple and I love how there is a date section at the top and plenty of room to write titles.

Basically, these journals help me keep my life together, both spiritually and mentally. Allowing God’s Word to have precedence and being able to write it down and meditate on Bible verses.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

13987781_1268833013127135_615887032_oWhen I first heard of the bullet journal was skeptical to how it worked. How could one possibly make a planner so flexible? I was interested because I could never make planners work for me, whether it was app or it was one of those expensive and pretty Kate Spade planners from Chapters. I always found that I would run out of space to write everything I wanted in traditional planners and I hated typing everything in my phone. So I just gave up trying.

So when I found out about bullet journalling, I would watch videos on bullet journalling and scroll through studyblrs on Tumblr admiring them. I wanted to start one but could not bring myself to do it because of the commitment until recently… (very recently). I found out a close friend of mine had started bullet journalling a couple months back. I looked through her bullet journal and finally was inspired to put my admirations into action.

Today I would like to share some of my bullet journal spreads and some ideas I’ve started implementing. (Even though I literally just started)

One of the biggest issues that held me back from starting was that I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to customizing my personal things. I just could not decide on fonts and styles and ended up ripping pages out continually. Once I just settled and got over it, it became much more enjoyable. Ideas of different things to add in my journal kept on coming.

I encourage anyone who is looking into bullet journaling to start! It really is as flexible as it claims to be because honestly, the only thing the bullet journal is limited by is your imagination. Grab a blank journal and just start! Get over your mistakes and just go for it!

I hope to post a bit more when I had more of journal filled, like daily spreads and some fun logs I’ve set that have yet to be filled in. 🙂

Hello guys. 🙂

Today I was playing around with acrylics and made a whole bunch of art prints using them. So I decided to make one a phone wallpaper. /wheeeeee My FIRST PHONE WALLPAPER. Made by Lynndelynn… whoa.

Here it is!

I’ve been inspired by the night sky and all the pretty stars. So yeah, it’s a dark indigo paint ombre wash with some quote about the sky. Yes, I know, very deep.  Anyways, I hope you like it. Just right click the image below and save it or you can click on the link beside the picture and download it from Google Drive. (:

Hope y’all like it!

I often ask myself. “Why do I do what I do?” As some of you may know, I have gotten more interested in art and graphic design and have recently opened up an Etsy shop.  Since elementary school, I knew that I loved to draw. That love for art and drawing has now developed into ways to be an encouragement to others and God has allowed me to start a business out of it. Once money is involved in something, it becomes easy to lose focus of what is important and to forget the original intention of starting that business.

This post is just to remind myself why I do what I do. In a nutshell, this is my art and design philosophy.

What Is A Philosophy?

Well, I’m currently in Bible college taking teaching and every teaching class I have taken so far has required me to write a teaching philosophy about that subject. According to Merriam-Websters Dictionary, a philosophy (of something) is “a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought.” I have taken Teaching History, Teaching Literature, and Teaching Math so far in Bible College. One thing I’ve learned from all those teaching classes is that my philosophy towards everything should be based on God’s Word. Every area of life belongs to God–including science. God created everything. History is HIS story. Math is objective because God is objective. 1+1 will always equal 2, that will never change because God never changes. It is amazing because we can tie all aspects of life back to God’s character.

What Is My Personal Philosophy of Art & Design?

The funny thing is, you can tell how much I love what I do because I didn’t have to take a college class on art & design in order to develop my personal conviction and philosophy about it, unlike math and history and all that fun stuff. Not that I hate those subjects, but I just like art so much more than everything else haha. One phrase that I have clung to for my philosophy is “Created to Create.”

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… (Genesis 1:26)

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God create he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27)

God is the original Creator. He created absolutely everything. You and me, animals and nature. Don’t believe me, read the Genesis account. Not only did He create everything, He created everything just by speaking. How amazing is that? BUT do you know what is even more amazing? God created man in His own image. What God can do, we can do too. We are capable of having emotion, we know morally what is right and wrong, and we can create. Although we are created in the image of God, we are finite and limited. We can not create life like God can, we can not create the same beauty that God has created. Our creation is a mere imitation of the original creation. It is still beautiful but it is not as beautiful as the original. It may not be the same, but I am thankful that God even gives us the ability to draw or paint and the ability to have talents.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

God created me. He knows me intimately and personally. He has known from the beginning of time what my weaknesses and strengths are and the talents that I have. As a child of God, I am commanded to share the gospel with others and to love others. Whatever talents I have, they should be used to glorify Him and Him alone. Whatever I create, all the credit goes to God, not me. The sole purpose of what I do is to glorify Him and encourage others. I pray that I can somehow use my talent as a way to bring people to Christ. That is my goal as a designer and illustrator.

Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatever ye do, do everything for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

I pray this post has encouraged you as much as it has encouraged me. It is so easy for me to lose focus of what really matters sometimes. I’m just reminding myself that what I have and can do is gift given by God. My talent really does not belong to me. God has given me it to be a steward of it. Someday in heaven I’m going to judged for what I have done with what God has given me. I want to make what I do count for God. I’m not in this to make money (although that is nice bonus), I’m in this because I love it and I know I can use to be a blessing to others. 🙂

titleI’ve always wanted to make a mood board, but never really had a chance to do one. Honestly though, I really should put one together next season so I can at least have a cohesive design plan. Although I do not have a mood board from Spring/Summer 2015, the images and styles I’ve been drawn towards saving and pinning all seem to come from a similar theme which I would like to call “Natural Simplicity”. It’s showing up everywhere in my life! Design, clothing, interior design preferences. etc.  I honestly have never been a lover of vintage, botanical looks… but now it seems I’m obsessed with it. It’s gotten so bad that now I even want to start gardening again…

So today I will be talking about this style and how it has managed to seep into areas of my aesthetic preferences. (ooouuhh big words)

How has “Natural Simplicity” affected my clothing style? Well, above are a sample of outfit styles from Pinterest that I’ve been yearning to emulate this season, but don’t have the money to afford doing so. Personally, I don’t think I could pull off the hat, but you can see what I’m trying to get at. But Isn’t that green jumper dress just adorable?  >.<

  • Colours – Forest green, khaki, navy, white, ivory, blush, light blue… basically forest/earthy tones and muted brights (“that’s a paradox!”)
  • Patterns – Floral, tribal, and polka dots
  • Fabric/Materials – Chiffon, linen and cotton
  • Accessories – Oxfords, strappy flat sandals, structured satchel and flower crowns ❤
  • Coveted clothing pieces this season – denim jumper dress, gingham anything and lots of white blouses!

Some more pictures… *O*

One word: Flowers. FlowersFlowers. MORE FLOWERS!

Just look at these beauties! How can you not be inspired by the colours and shapes. Ugh. Now I just want to drop everything and go draw flowers. But I can’t. I at least need to finish my first blog post.

How do flowers translate into my design ideas? Recently I’ve been trying out different medium combinations. My favourite has been pencil crayon and marker on kraft. It looks so nice! I’m seriously in love with Kraft paper! It’s cheap to get and it gives off a very rustic and simple feel. I have always loved my Prisamcolor Premier pencils but now I love them even more. The way the colours show up so vividly on kraft paper combined with Crayola Supertip Markers is incredible. (Sorry, I must sound like such an art nerd right now)

Here is an example of what I’ve done recently using the mediums I just talked about.  I listed this journal on Etsy a couple days a ago and it’s one of my favourite pieces so far!

Basically anything whimsical, floral, woodland goes for me this season. I’m always looking for new inspiration but I hope this style doesn’t get old for me. I have really enjoyed working with this style so far and I hope it carries out for a while. I don’t want it to go out of style D:

I guess this ends my first ever post on Joyful Song Studio blog! I have never written this much before on a blog post, but I guess this indicates that I have finally found my passion and something I actually enjoy sharing and writing about. I hope I will be able to keep up with this blog… I tend to get lazy very easily.
